Findr Search is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that installs Findr Toolbar to your installed web browser and promotes go.findrsearch.com. Once Findr Search gets on your computer, your browser homepage, startup page and newtab page will be changed to go.finrsearch.com and the default search engine will be changed to Search with Findr.

With the Findr extension added to your browser, Find Search can access your data on all websites, read and modify your browsing history, and access your tabs and browsing activity. That means it may be used to collect users’ personal information or their browsing habits.

Findr Toolbar can be downloaded and installed willingly from its official website findrsearch.com and some other malicious websites. It can also get on your computer along with the installation of other free software which has been bundled with this program. Or, it may be promoted through spam mail with infected attachment. Please never download and open any attachments from suspicious email address.

Method 1 Automatically remove Findr Search toolbar and Go.findrsearch.com redirect

 

Step 1 Scan and remove malicious toolbar with Anvi Slim Toolbar

1. Download and install Anvi Slim Toolbar.

2. Launch Anvi Slim Toolbar and go to Manage tab.

1. Back to the main interface of Anvi Slim Toolbar and go to Browser Repair tab.

Step 3 Clean the useless registry entries and residual files

Method 2 Manually remove Findr Search toolbar and Go.findrsearch.com redirect

 

Step 1 Remove applications that related to Findr Search from Control Panel

 

Windows 7/Vista: Go to Star Menu → Select Control Panel → Click on Uninstall a Program / Programs and Features → locate Findr → Click on Uninstall button or double click the program’s icon

Windows XP: Go to Star Menu → Select Control Panel → Click on Add/Remove Programs → locate Findr → Click on Remove button

Step 2 Check and reset your browser settings

 

For Internet Explorer Users:

1. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools at the top right corner, and then select Internet options.

2. To change homepage: hit General tab in the menu → replace go.findrsearch.com with a preferred domain like http://www.google.com/ or choose Use default

3. To reset search provider: click on Settings button under Search to get Manage Add-on window → right click a desired search provider → select Set as default → right click Search with Findr → select Remove → click Apply to complete the setting

4. To delete Toolbars and Extensions: click on Tools at the top right corner → select Manage Add-ons → switch to Toolbars and Extensions tab in Manage Add-on window → right click on Findr or any suspicious extension → choose Disable in the drop-down menu → close the window and click on OK button in the Internet Options window

Alternative Solution: Reset IE to its default state

1. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools at the top right corner, and then select Internet options.

2. Switch to Advanced tab in the window and click on the Reset button.

3. Check Delete personal settings and click Reset button in the new window.

4. After the reset finished, click Close button. Then restart Internet Explorer.

 

For Mozilla Firefox Users:

1. To change homepage: click on the orange Firefox button firefox buttonon the upper left corner of the browser → hit Options→ select General → choose Restore to Default.

2. To reset default search engine: Click on the inverted triangle in the search bar → choose Manage Search Engines → locate Search with Findr → hit Remove and OK → click the inverted triangle again → select a preferred search provider from the menu

3. To delete Extensions and Plugins: click on the orange Firefox button on the upper left corner of the browser → hit Add-ons in the drop-down menu→ go to Extensions tab→ remove Findr or any suspicious extensions

Alternative Solution: Reset Firefox to its default state

1. Click on orange Firefox button on the upper left corner of the browser, and then move the mouse pointer to Help in the dropped-down menu and select Troubleshooting information in the sub-menu.

2. Click the Reset Firefox button in the Troubleshooting Information page and in the confirmation window that opens.

3. Firefox will close and be reset. When it’s done, a window will list the information that was imported.

 

For Google Chrome Users:

Click on Customize icon (Wrench or 3 bar icon) →select Settings

1. To reset startup page: hit Set pages → remove go.findrsearch.com by clicking the X at the end of the bar
