You are suffering from Sweetpacks hijacking and Sweetpacks or Sweetim toolbar sticky to your browser and your installed security software report nothing? In this article, you will learn how to get rid of this Sweetpacks annoyance.
From an user who encountered Sweet Packs:
A few days ago I noticed small pop-up ads & full-screen ads appearing while using Internet Explorer. Some of the time I’m able to “x” out of the page but other times I have to close down Internet Explorer & start over. I’ve seen the name “sweetpacks.com” appear on the tab name. I think this may be a virus. Currently, I’m running Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus software with live updates. I checked that page & it does not show any viruses as being detected. How can I get rid of “sweet packs”?
What is Sweetpacks Toolbar/Sweetim Toolbar and sweetpacks hijacking
Sweetpacks( search.sweetpacks.com) and Sweetpacks toolbar/Sweetim toolbar is a typical adware that come bundled with other software you download from distrusted server. Without asking your permission or consent, the Sweetpacks toolbar silently installs and modifies the existing home page of your web browser and adds its toolbar, Sweetpacks or Sweetim as you may call it, which shows several shortcuts of games and funs, when in fact you do not need them at all. It serves redundant function on the browser.
Sweetpacks Toolbar and search in Firefox
Besides the toolbar, search.sweetpacks.com or home.sweetim.com will override the existing homepage. The adware places a search box that resolves to search.sweetpacks.com or home.sweetim.com with various preferences behind from time to time. It contains its own search engine that many user called worthless. Using Sweetpacks Search, you will get undesirable results. It reveals irrelevant links that are way beyond the search term. Along with the useless results, there is too much display of advertisements aiming to earn pay-per-click revenue for the site owner.
